Description of Services

Swedish Massage: The use of various strokes and kneading techniques that warm up and work muscle tissue, releasing tension and breaking up adhered tissues.  It is softer and gentler than deep tissue but can include deep pressure.  This is total body massage that most people think of when they think of massage.

Deep Tissue Massage: The use of more intense and forceful massage techniques that penetrate deeper into underlying muscles and focus more on problem areas to correct postural distortions and hypercontracted muscles.

Barefoot Bar Deep Tissue Massage (Wendy's Walkabout Massage):  The therapist stands on the table on either side of the client and delivers the treatment using long, sweeping motions with the feet.    Client draping is similar to that of a regular therapeutic massage.  To watch an example of a treatment that is similar to the treatment that I offer click here.

Trigger Point therapy:  Soft tissue manipulation techniques are used to locate and release spasms and hypercontracted tissues and eliminate muscle "knots" that cause referred pain. For an excellent explanation about what trigger points are and how they create pain  click here.

Myofascial release:  Slow friction is  used to melt, lengthen, spread, and redefine connective tissues that can inhibit tissue flexibility and contribute to pain.   For an excellent explanation of what fascia is and how it can cause pain click here.

Hydrotherapy: Use of water in one of it's three forms (liquid, solid, or vapor) at specific temperatures for therapeutic purposes.

Bamboo Massage:   Bamboo and Rattan tools are warmed with a heating pad. The application of the warm bamboo melts away tensions while at the same time creating a deeply relaxing and soothing experience.

This increased circulation assists in detoxifying the body and supports our health through a better functioning immune system. To watch an explanation ofthis treatment click here
